Dr. Wei Ling Ooi is a Specialist Breast Surgeon and Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Surgeons (FRACS).
Wei Ling completed her medical degree at the University of Manchester, UK and General Surgery training in WA. She then completed a full BreastSurgANZ Fellowship in Breast & Oncoplastic Surgery training in NSW and Perth.
Wei Ling is a Consultant Breast Surgeon at a leading tertiary hospital in Perth where she has the privilege of caring for patients with a wide range of complex breast conditions, including breast cancer, benign breast disorders, and high-risk assessment. As such, Wei Ling understands the unique needs and circumstances of each patient and their journey.
A strong believer in multidisciplinary team input, Wei Ling works closely with other breast-focused healthcare specialists to ensure comprehensive and patient-centred management for those navigating the challenges of breast disease. Her approach combines the latest in surgical techniques with a focus on compassionate care, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their treatment.
In addition to her clinical role, Wei Ling has a strong interest in education and is heavily involved in the training the next generation of healthcare professionals. She is currently the lead education co-ordinator for UWA and Curtin University students. She also holds supervisory role for junior doctors and surgical trainees.
Wei Ling has significant involvement in research and is currently the research lead within her Breast Unit. She has published several articles in peer reviewed journals and presented at various conferences.
Wei Ling originates from Penang, Malaysia. In addition to English, she speaks Malay and French. When she is not at work, Wei Ling enjoys swimming, travelling, and exploring the local food scene with her partner.
